Magazine Covers

Early Magazine:
This looks really old. It is wrinkled. It is black and white. It has no color or affection to me. It is boring, and old, and tiring.

The Poster Cover:
This magazine has color and it also has a famous person. The font is really fun. The barcode is in the middle which is really weird.

Pictures Married to Type:
This one also has color. It has a design that makes the reader want to read the magazine. The font of the magazine is boring to me.

In the Forest:
This one is very complicated. It has lots of color, and sidebars. This is the newest magazine. People really like it because the picture and colors.

Name of my Magazine: "Potato Time"
CoverLines: "The Perfect Potato Comes in Many Shades of Brown"

Fixed Portrait Shoot Submission

ISO 100

ISO 400

ISO 800

ISO 1600

ISO 3200

1) The best ISO setting to use for portraits is 3200.
2) My best picture is the first picture shown. I really like how everyone is spread out. And I think the picture is really cool.
3) Yes I was able to create equivalent exposures to the best photo by changing the aperture and shutter speed.
4) I learned that some ISO's are good and others are bad. I learned that it is good to use high shutter speed when you need to use so.

Year In Review 2013

PART 1
This picture's power is very joyful. I was interested in it because I thought it was really cool of them to do that. The emotion would be joy. This picture is not blurry. I think it is the best picture to brighten up someones day.

This picture's power is really effective. I was interested in the picture because I thought it looked really cool, and different with all the colors. The emotion that it gave me was sad. This picture has a mix of dark and light.

This picture is very powerful and emotional for the people that were affected by the flood. I thought this picture was cool because to me is says that "Even though darkness is around you you can still be bright"

PART 2
In my opinion I think the best song of 2013 is "Royals" by Lorde. I choose this song because that is my favorite song. I thought it was the best of 2013 because I heard bunch of people singing that song. I like this song because the rhythm.

In my opinion the best movie from 2013 is "Hunger Games; Catching Fire" I chose this movie because I really liked it. I thought it was better than the first movie. I just didn't like the cliffhanger it left me with. It was the best because it got the most sales.

This is the best story because it really hurt people, and it also showed us how this world is getting to horrifying. I also picked this because when I heard about it I was think "how can anyone do this"

I think Jennifer Lawrence was the best person because she is a great actress and really funny. She attracted me because she was the main character for Catching Fire. I thought she did amazing.

PART 3
My holiday went good. There were many things that happened but my favorite is when I got a iPhone 5S. That was my best gift. My best event was going to see Catching Fire on my birthday. It was a good movie, I recommend it.

New Years Resolutions:
Get good grades
Make UIL
Get my drivers license
Not being afraid to sing out loud

I am looking forward to summer in 2014. Also doing more productions. I also look forward to me being a junior.

PhotoJ 1st Semester Final

Caption Writing

General George K. Locke rides his horse into the flames at Washington, in World War 2. Even though we did not win George died an honorable death.

John Washton was found dead under the I-35 bridge where supposedly he got shot and killed from his own gang. It is said to be that the gang is called "The Wolves".

Hunger Games club President Sam Tsumi lights himself on fire to be "The Boy On Fire," in Japan 2014. It is said that he was dared to light himself, and he did.

Photo Composition

This picture of the bikes uses the rule "Simplicity" because the bikes are the only main focus. Since the background is only one color, the bikes take up the attention and that is what people are focused on most. This picture also shows "Balance" because the bikes are all equal on the picture.

This picture of the forest uses the rule "Framing" because the forrests leaves are making a frame of the girl walking. On both sides the forrest is shown like a frame.

This picture of the solider uses "Rule of Thirds" because if the photo was divided into nine equal squares, the solders head would be on the line. And thats what Rule of Thirds is, The subject is on the line. This picture also uses the rule "Simplicity" because the picture is focused on one thing, and that is the solders head.

This picture of the dog running uses the rule "Balance" because there are equal sides of the audience on both sides and the dog is in the middle. The picture also shows "Framing" because the audience is framing the dog one both right and left sides.

Extra Credit

1. The man was pushed on the subway tracks and the photographer saw that the sub way was gonna run over the man so he took the picture of the man's final moments.
2. The photographer said he took the picture to show a flash to the driver to say that something was wrong.
3. If the photographer took the picture to warn the driver, then yes I think the photographer should've taken the picture. But if he took it just to take it, then I don't think he should've. He should've tried to save him.
4. Yes, I think the photographer did the best thing he could have done in that moment.
5. I think it is ok for them to run it on the first page of the newspaper because it is very important and tragic.
6. To a photojournalist I think it is more important to capture important moments like this one. Because thats the persons job is to capture and show people the world.
7. I don't think it is ethically acceptable for a photojournalist to include him or herself in a picture unless they are actually apart of the event because then they would get more attention than the person that it is mainly about.
8. I don't think that photojournalist should avoid influencing events as they happen because it was made to happen in the first place.
9. I think the answers about what is more important to a photojournalist; pictures or helping. Because there are hard to answer and each journalist has a different answer and reason. I find it very interesting what people choose first.
