PhotoJ 1st Semester Final

Caption Writing

General George K. Locke rides his horse into the flames at Washington, in World War 2. Even though we did not win George died an honorable death.

John Washton was found dead under the I-35 bridge where supposedly he got shot and killed from his own gang. It is said to be that the gang is called "The Wolves".

Hunger Games club President Sam Tsumi lights himself on fire to be "The Boy On Fire," in Japan 2014. It is said that he was dared to light himself, and he did.

Photo Composition

This picture of the bikes uses the rule "Simplicity" because the bikes are the only main focus. Since the background is only one color, the bikes take up the attention and that is what people are focused on most. This picture also shows "Balance" because the bikes are all equal on the picture.

This picture of the forest uses the rule "Framing" because the forrests leaves are making a frame of the girl walking. On both sides the forrest is shown like a frame.

This picture of the solider uses "Rule of Thirds" because if the photo was divided into nine equal squares, the solders head would be on the line. And thats what Rule of Thirds is, The subject is on the line. This picture also uses the rule "Simplicity" because the picture is focused on one thing, and that is the solders head.

This picture of the dog running uses the rule "Balance" because there are equal sides of the audience on both sides and the dog is in the middle. The picture also shows "Framing" because the audience is framing the dog one both right and left sides.

Extra Credit

1. The man was pushed on the subway tracks and the photographer saw that the sub way was gonna run over the man so he took the picture of the man's final moments.
2. The photographer said he took the picture to show a flash to the driver to say that something was wrong.
3. If the photographer took the picture to warn the driver, then yes I think the photographer should've taken the picture. But if he took it just to take it, then I don't think he should've. He should've tried to save him.
4. Yes, I think the photographer did the best thing he could have done in that moment.
5. I think it is ok for them to run it on the first page of the newspaper because it is very important and tragic.
6. To a photojournalist I think it is more important to capture important moments like this one. Because thats the persons job is to capture and show people the world.
7. I don't think it is ethically acceptable for a photojournalist to include him or herself in a picture unless they are actually apart of the event because then they would get more attention than the person that it is mainly about.
8. I don't think that photojournalist should avoid influencing events as they happen because it was made to happen in the first place.
9. I think the answers about what is more important to a photojournalist; pictures or helping. Because there are hard to answer and each journalist has a different answer and reason. I find it very interesting what people choose first.
