PhotoJ 1st Semester Final

Caption Writing

General George K. Locke rides his horse into the flames at Washington, in World War 2. Even though we did not win George died an honorable death.

John Washton was found dead under the I-35 bridge where supposedly he got shot and killed from his own gang. It is said to be that the gang is called "The Wolves".

Hunger Games club President Sam Tsumi lights himself on fire to be "The Boy On Fire," in Japan 2014. It is said that he was dared to light himself, and he did.

Photo Composition

This picture of the bikes uses the rule "Simplicity" because the bikes are the only main focus. Since the background is only one color, the bikes take up the attention and that is what people are focused on most. This picture also shows "Balance" because the bikes are all equal on the picture.

This picture of the forest uses the rule "Framing" because the forrests leaves are making a frame of the girl walking. On both sides the forrest is shown like a frame.

This picture of the solider uses "Rule of Thirds" because if the photo was divided into nine equal squares, the solders head would be on the line. And thats what Rule of Thirds is, The subject is on the line. This picture also uses the rule "Simplicity" because the picture is focused on one thing, and that is the solders head.

This picture of the dog running uses the rule "Balance" because there are equal sides of the audience on both sides and the dog is in the middle. The picture also shows "Framing" because the audience is framing the dog one both right and left sides.

Extra Credit

1. The man was pushed on the subway tracks and the photographer saw that the sub way was gonna run over the man so he took the picture of the man's final moments.
2. The photographer said he took the picture to show a flash to the driver to say that something was wrong.
3. If the photographer took the picture to warn the driver, then yes I think the photographer should've taken the picture. But if he took it just to take it, then I don't think he should've. He should've tried to save him.
4. Yes, I think the photographer did the best thing he could have done in that moment.
5. I think it is ok for them to run it on the first page of the newspaper because it is very important and tragic.
6. To a photojournalist I think it is more important to capture important moments like this one. Because thats the persons job is to capture and show people the world.
7. I don't think it is ethically acceptable for a photojournalist to include him or herself in a picture unless they are actually apart of the event because then they would get more attention than the person that it is mainly about.
8. I don't think that photojournalist should avoid influencing events as they happen because it was made to happen in the first place.
9. I think the answers about what is more important to a photojournalist; pictures or helping. Because there are hard to answer and each journalist has a different answer and reason. I find it very interesting what people choose first.

Self Portraits and Portraits Preview

3 Favorite Rules:
1) Go crazy. Make very exaggerated facial expressions. Go all out.
2)Instead of being in the middle like most pictures be on the side or corner and be different.
3)Use both Auto and Manual Focus to try both out.

Environmental Portraits
The reason I picked this picture is because I like how we also see the rocks and not just the man.
The reason I picked this picture is because I just like how we only see half of their faces.
Casual Portraits
The reason I picked this picture is because I really liked the colors that the sun is bringing in.
The reason I picked this picture is because I thought it was cool that the main subject is on the side.
Formal Portraits
The reason I picked this picture is because I really saw that this picture was formal and serious.
The reason I picked this picture is because I think the baby really brightens up the picture.
Other Cool Portraits
The reason I picked this picture is because all the lights and it just looks cool.
The reason I picked this picture is because the guy is going all out and I really like the energy.

Chia Pets

A Chia Pet that I think would be cool is a Walking Dead Chia Pet. Another cool Chia Pet would be a Chia Pet that you can make design yourself and you can make all different designs, it can even be your head.

3 Pillars of Exposure

Aperture

1. Aperture is often compared to the iris of the eye.
2. The smaller the aperture the greater the depth, the higher the aperture the smaller the depth.
3. Aperture impacts depth of field by making the main subject sharp and the background blurry during a large f-stop and the opposite during a small f-stop.

Shutter Speed

At the beginning while the sun is still partially up and the courtyard has reasonable light:
a.) the dunking booth- High Shutter Speed
b.) the food eating contest- High Shutter Speed
c.) the rock climbing wall- High Shutter Speed
d.) someone working at a booth- Slow Shutter Speed
e.) the DJ/MC working at the middle of the circle- Slow Shutter Speed
f.) the Diamonds performance- High Shutter Speed

Towards the end when there is no sun and has gotten dark enough that you can't see from one end of the courtyard to the other.
a.) The dunking booth - High Shutter Speed
b.) The food eating contest - Slow Shutter Speed
c.) The rock climbing wall - Slow Shutter Speed
d.) Someone working at a booth - Slow Shutter Speed
e.) The DJ/MC working at the middle of the circle - Slow Shutter Speed
f.) The Diamonds performance - High Shutter Speed

Auto - The camera selects what the shutter speed will be depending on it's surroundings.
Aperture Priority - You can change the aperature manualy but the camera changes the shutter speed Automatic Manual - You can change both aperature and shutter speed by hand
ISO 200

ISO 3200

1.It will be easier to capture the moving objects of the players in action.

2. If you have your camera mounted on a tripod or sitting on a flat surface. Your camera will most likely need more time to capture the scene and anything that is moving is probably going to look like a ghost.3. To set my ISO to a higher number to be able to freeze motion

F4 - 1/250:  The background is blurryF5.6 - 1/60:  The background is less blurryF8 - 1/60:  The background is less blurryF11- 1/60:  The background is more clearF16- 1/30:  It's the same the backgroundF22 - 1/8: When the background is more clear and blurry.

At slow shutter speed people are blurry.A higher shutter speed will solve the problem. The lowest shutter speed is 1/40.

Microwave Memories

One time I put candy in the fridge the next day it was kinda frozen so I put it in the microwave. I put it in there for 10 seconds. 6 seconds later I saw a bolt of lightning in the microwave. I forgot that you can't put tin foil in the microwave or it would catch on fire.

My Superhero

There would be a special watch that gives people temporary powers. A green watch would give people powers to control the earth and environment. A blue watch would let people get the power to control water. A grey watch would give people the power to fly, and turn invisible. There, that way everyone can be a superhero!

Mural Photos (Electives)

When I Was Brave

One time I was brave was when I was 6 years old. My family and I were eating at a restaurant and two robbers came in and told the cashier to give them all the money. There was one guy that had a gun and pointed it at everyone that was at the restaurant. I was brave because I was holding my brother and protecting him and telling him that everything will be all right.

Masters of Black and White Photography PART 3

1. This picture caught my eye because it looks so amazing and cool.
2. I see the oceans waves crash around. I smell the fish that swim around with me. I hear the seagulls barking at the fish, and picking the fish up one by one. I taste the salt water that seeps into my tastebuds. I fell the coolness and relaxation that the ocean waves give me.

1.This picture caught my eye because I like the view and It looks amazing
   2. I see the beautiful tree and the rocks underneath it. I smell the creatures that walk around. I hear the birds that tweet at the leaves that fall off the tree. I taste the cool air that Ive always wanted. I feel connected to the earth.

    3. I want to be able to let people see different things in a new and different way when I show them pictures I took. I also want them to know how cool Earth really is if you think about it. And also I want them to know to show people how they can do things like me also.
